Scott has been driving in scintillating fashion with victories at Canberra, Melton, Leeton and Cobram to his credit in the past fortnight.
The leading reinsman looks to be a major player tonight with drives in seven of the eight races and the majority of his drives to be heavily supported in betting.
Scott has huge wraps on recent stable acquisition Pepperell Beijing who made a winning debut for the stable when he demolished his rivals by 18 metres at Melton on Christmas Eve.
“He’s an impressive horse that went terrific at Melton and it’s going to take a nice horse to beat him tonight,” Scott said.
“He is easily the nicest horse that I’ve had in my stable for a long time.
“I think he will win more races in the city, he ran his last half in 56.1 at Melton the other night and he could have broken 55 no worries.
“The times he is running around here in trackwork are the best I have seen in a long while.”
After racing tonight Scott is setting Pepperell Beijing for the heats of the Central Victorian Pacing Championships at Bendigo with the final worth $30,000.
Scott also looks to have a strong hand in the $3000 R0 to R1 Pace, (2170m) with another recent stable acquisition, Giveusagrin.
Giveusagrin debuted for the stable at Albury’s most recent meeting but raced roughly and was never a winning hope to finish at the tail of the field.
The gelding quickly made amends at Cobram on Wednesday with an all-the-way victory and paid in excess of $25 on the Victorian tote.
“I made a gear change at Cobram and it made a world of difference.
“He was formerly trained by Peter Manning and I put the same gear back on him that the Mannings used.
“He was a different animal and he is just a real strong, one-paced horse.
“I rang Peter’s daughter Kerryn and she said he races best when you just let him bowl along in front. I will just search for the lead tonight and keep on running,” Scott said.
Scott’s other drives are Calzaghe, Muddys Arjayem, Motu Mercedes, Sports Alive and Wallys Daughter.
