IT all started with an antipasto plate for breakfast.
Then they grazed and sipped their way through the King Valley.
They had a morning tea of oysters at Dal Zotto, went wild at Pizzini with white bait and calamari, gnocchi with pork ragout and profiteroles.
At Politini, they indulged in a dessert platter and when they arrived back in Wangarratta, there was a glass of white wine at Watermarc.
Wangaratta’s Bonnie McIntosh and Yarrawonga’s Tracie Holgate made sure they had the full experience when they joined the busloads of visitors making the pilgrimage to the King Valley for the wine region’s annual La Dolce Vita food and wine festival on Saturday and yesterday.
They lined their stomachs with delicious local produce while enjoying a Prosecco or two on Saturday.
Ms Holgate said a highlight was the fun and games at Pizzini.
“They had quite the fanfare. There was a gnocchi rolling competition and wine spitting,” she said.
“The only remorse that we had is that we didn’t get to Ciccone — we heard last night that is a really great winery, too.”
“Next year we’ll do it.”
