MELBOURNE'S VFL affiliate, Casey Scorpions have signed former Carlton player and Vic Metro coach Rohan Welsh as its senior coach for next season.
The Scorpions, who have faced financial challenges to stay afloat, finally made the coaching announcement this week after weeks of speculation about their future.
Former coach Brett Lovett stood down citing personal reasons, just one year into the job.
The role will remain part time but Welsh will also play a small development role for Melbourne.
Welsh had previously coached Vic Metro under-18s for the past four years.
Casey still has a promising young list to pick from next season despite reports that it was unable to fully commit to its player payments last year.
Casey's senior coaching job was the last remaining appointment to be made in the VFL.
