The driver training centre, which opened in October, will host several motorsport events.
The arrival of BJR is the first of many visits planned by local motorsports groups.
While the track was too short for any full-throttle testing, driver Fabian Coulthard said the facility was a good foil for Winton Raceway in the early test phase of the team’s new car.
“Today is a good shakedown for the car, it’s totally new from the ground up for the 2013 season, so today we’re looking to get it ready for a full test day at Winton next month,” he said.
“The track is only two kilometres long, so you blink and you’ve gone around it.
“It is convenient for us, being 15 minutes from Albury, and it is an opportunity to get some data on how the car is operating at this early stage.”
Coulthard hopes to improve on his 11th place in the driver’s standings from last year, saying that poor performances in the endurance races had hurt his points tally.
“The team is really positive, so hopefully all the bad stuff happens on our test days so we can be at our best for the races,” he said.
