The park’s future is up in the air with its manager, Goulburn-Murray Water, not taking bookings beyond June 30.
New Country Fire Authority fire safety regulations are the reason for the halt on bookings.
Goulburn-Murray Water has said it expects the park to need an extensive upgrade before the December deadline.
Councillors were unanimous that the money be put towards a $40,000 Victorian government funding application at yesterday’s council meeting in Tallangatta.
Shire acting director of corporate and community services Penelope Sell presented a report to the meeting about the park’s value to the local community and greater shire.
“(The park) is a key piece of community and tourism infrastructure,” Ms Sell said.
“Council is very aware of and concerned about the economic, tourism and social impacts that could eventuate if the park’s service were to be reduced.”
Council is in talks with Goulburn-Murray Water about the park’s future.
Meanwhile, councillors were also unanimous yesterday about upping the shire’s contribution to the Corryong Airport Funding Application.
Council agreed to put $15,000 towards the application last May but decided to increase the figure to $30,000 on the grounds that it would receive an additional $142,000 from the Victorian government.
