Sometimes words can't describe what's inside, but the movement does, tells JASMINE BOEHM.
MUSIC takes me to a different place, lets me escape reality and enter a whole other world.
I can let a bad day go with music - no matter how down I am, I can always dance.
There's this special connection between your movements and the music.
As soon as I start, the music and emotion builds inside me and, all at once, I feel power, strength and a tingling sensation throughout my body.
Ballet is classical, but sometimes it's nice to dance to lyrical music.
That way, I make a connection to the message.
Words or not, the music still takes me on a journey.
I see it with the students who I teach.
They come in, they might be a bit grumpy but, by the end of the class after moving to the music, they're happy and bubbly again.
They release what's inside, and feel better for it.
Sometimes words can't describe what's inside.
But the movement does.
It lets out what you're feeling so that you don't have to speak it to anyone.
And I wouldn't feel anything without it.
Jasmine Boehm is a dance teacher at Murray Youth Ballet.
