Leading trainer David Hayes has already indicated one of his hopes, Auld Burns, won’t start on a rain-affected track, already downgraded to slow during yesterday’s City Handicap meeting.
More than 20 millimetres of rain fell at the track yesterday, with more expected overnight.
More track staff will be working today to replace divots between races.
Chief steward Greg Rudolph last night said the meeting would go ahead.
“Unfortunately, more rain is forecast,” he said.
“It is likely we will have a heavy track.”
Repair works started immediately after the last race last night on repairing patches of cut-up track – near the 400 metres, 600 metres and 800 metres marks.
RacingNSW maintenance manager David Hodgson, who has been helping prepare the track, said the show would go on “because this is a big day for the Albury club”.
