A decade of headlines condemning him, plus the time he spent on remand for murder, has convinced Paul Dale he will never be cleared in the eyes of the law.
That’s why he has put some faith in the eyes of the ordinary punter.
What’s strong in his mind is some senior officers in Victoria Police still have it in for him.
“I have put my book out purely to get my side of the story across,” he said of Disgraced?
“I’m putting across factual information about what led to me being charged.
“It’s easy to make allegations about you, and it’s easy for police to make allegations about you and very, very easy for them to control the media spin.”
Mr Dale said he suspected Victoria Police’s stance on him was guided by “that old saying the horse has bolted”.
“I’ve got no hope in the world of ever getting a fair hearing, a fair trial or investigation while some of these police are in such senior positions,” he said.
That was because of the fear of civil action against police.
Mr Dale said he always knew he would be found not guilty “because I did not commit those offences”.
“And no doubt they did not think they wouldn’t be able to convict me on the paid testimony of convicted criminals,” he said.
