THE heat was on the Border’s pool lifeguards yesterday as they made sure their skills were up to scratch.
About 15 of the 30 lifeguards who will patrol Albury and Lavington’s council pools were trained in preparation for what is expected to be a busy summer.
The team of swimming pool helpers brush up on skills annually, with activities yesterday including mock rescues.
Pool operator Paul Tanner said up to seven lifeguards were on duty at busy times with at least two always rostered on.
They are likely to have a few water-lovers to observe today with Albury-Wodonga expected to reach a maximum temperature of 27.
