But it appears to be no closer to finding an alternative headquarters, having deemed as unsuitable seven options the Wodonga Council has offered.
The band has been located in the city centre for the past 46 years and understandably would like another central home.
It has offered a suggestion for the development of a central Crown land site as a multipurpose venue to house the Albury-Wodonga Theatre Company and the men’s shed.
But so far there appears to have been little support for that proposal, with the council noting that the state-owned land the band wanted for a new home was not under the council’s control.
The band enjoys strong community support, particularly in its involvement with activities such as the annual Carols by Candlelight, and Wodonga residents would be keen to see the group find a permanent home.
They may criticise the council’s support for the commercial redevelopment of the city centre with projects such as Huon Hill tavern and Junction Place, potentially to the detriment of community cultural groups such as the band.
