The annual Stanley Awards, described as the Oscars for Australian cartooning, will be held at Coffs Harbour on Saturday.
The awards, in their 29th year, are presented in six categories, including the Gold Stanley.
Broelman, who draws cartoons for several Fairfax Regional Media newspapers, is a finalist for the Gold Stanley alongside Pat Campbell of The Canberra Times; MAD Magazine contributor Anton Emdin; Glen Le Lievre, a contributor to The Age and Sydney Morning Herald; David Pope of The Canberra Times; and David Rowe of The Financial Review.
Six bronze Stanleys will also be announced for caricaturist, comic strip artist, comic book artist, editorial-political cartoonist, illustrator and single gag cartoonist.
The Jim Russell Award will be presented for outstanding contribution to Australian cartooning.
