IT wasn’t hard to spot some fillies yesterday with many racegoers sporting one of the season’s hottest fashion trends — neon.
But it wasn’t just confined to the women; some men were donning brightly-coloured pants and one man was even wearing a neon pink suit.
It was fitting considering the entertainment at the race meeting was Albury-Wodonga rockers Neon City.
Turning heads was Albury’s Annie Bell, 18, in her hot pink dress, who said the neon colour was “very in right now”.
“It kind of sucks because I wanted to stand out,” she said.
Her friend, Lucy Wise-Chalker, 18, was of a similar mindset.
“It’s a bit bright, and that’s the whole point,” she said.
Albury woman Bec Willis, 22, had her own opinion of the trend.
“There are certain people who can get away with wearing it,” she said.
“But you can’t clash neons, you have to choose one neon colour to wear.”
Rutherglen’s Matt Bramwell, 24, picked up his neon pink suit from Lowes.
“I actually bought it for a 21st birthday and wanted to get some more wear out of it,” he said.
Away from the high-visibility colours were more classic all-red looks and black and white.
Quest Wodonga’s Amy Vandeven said she couldn’t go past her black and white outfit.
“It’s classy, simple and you just can’t go wrong with it,” she said.
She was celebrating with co-workers in the Carevan marquee.
“It’s a great day to raise awareness of Carevan,” she said.
