Blake and Anthony Edwards, along with Peter Fenney were the main contributors on the score sheet in the 16-6 victory.
But Fenney paid tribute to the Pirates keeper Steve Sloane.
“He had a cracker of a game at the back and always seems to get high enough to stop those shots headed for the top corner of the net,” Fenney said.
“It means the guys up front can take that confidence and look at the shot clock and know when to go.
“If Steve is going to stop it, we need to be off down the pool, swim off our opponents.”
Fenney said the return of several players, including himself from Sydney, had added to the club’s depth.
“We train hard on being able to sprint when we go into attack. That showed today.”
Fenney said the Pirates would head into next week’s game against the Northside Stingrays with an almost unchanged squad.
“Stingrays have picked up quite a few players and have some quality coming out of retirement, so we won’t be taking anything for granted,” he said.
