More than 1000 jewellery pieces and other items were laid out at the Bundalong Hall for people to come and identify.
Up to 50 people looked over the items, with 80 per cent identifying property.
That property will stay in the custody of police until any criminal matter that comes before court is concluded.
The bid yesterday to find the owners of the stolen goods involved up to a dozen police from both sides of the border.
While a conclusion is yet to be reached in a court of law, the efforts of police are to be commended.
They have been presented with an incredibly complex task in trying to identify possible owners, along with photographing and documenting evidence.
There must be some sense of satisfaction for them in knowing their work will eventually reunite people with their treasured pieces of jewellery, many of which would be of huge sentimental importance.
The efforts of police have been simply outstanding.
