The Albury Club, concrete manufacturer Xypex and other businesses yesterday hosted what they hope will be an annual fund-raiser.
More than 70 players slogged it out in 40-degree heat.
The manager at the Albury Club Lance Boswell said all the money would go to the Albury-Wodonga Cancer Centre Trust Fund, which will support the centre once it is built by buying equipment and paying for research and staff development.
Mr Boswell said Rob Godson, of Xypex, had suggested the idea as a way of putting something back into the community.
“We’re thinking it might be and annual event, but we’ll pick a time of year next time when it’s a bit cooler,” he said.
A member of the trust fund board, Geoff Smith said day was “an outstanding effort”.
“We’re looking to establish a fund of about $2 million, and this will help reach that goal.”
Mr Smith said the fund would be officially launched at a dinner in May with a prospectus of its aims and activities.
