FIVE teenagers between 14 and 16 have been charged after allegedly leading police on a pursuit from Melbourne to Winton early Saturday morning.

Police said the teens stole a car in Dandenong after the assault and robbery of a 47-year-old man in a residential care unit about 1am.
Officers tracked the car down near Kilmore and initiated a pursuit.
The car went onto the wrong side of the road to turn onto the Northern Highway, where it was pursued to the Broadford interchange and then onto the Kilmore-Broadford Road.
“Stop sticks” were used some time later to bring the car to a halt on the Old Hume Highway at Winton about 6am.
Three youths were arrested at the scene, while two others fled into nearby scrubland.
They were pursued by the dog squad before being arrested an hour later.
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with two counts of armed robbery, one count of assault and two counts of theft of motor vehicle.
Another 16-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl have been charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of theft of motor vehicle.
