The pursuit began after the woman, 64, failed to stop at a random breath testing site.
Police said that, starting at Sackville Street, the woman drove a 1985 Toyota Corolla at speeds of up to 75km/h on Burrows Road and Urana Road to her home in Hague Street.
Inspector David Cottee said she had no alcohol in her system but she was unlicensed and driving an unregistered vehicle.
She told police she did not want to be forced to leave the car on the side of the road.
The woman will be summonsed to appear at court on charges of failing to stop, driving without a licence, driving an unregistered car and displaying false number plates.
“It would have been much easier for her to stop and receive some traffic tickets rather than have to face court,” Insp Cottee said.
“There wasn’t a great deal of traffic on the road but she could have put people in danger. There’s always a chance an accident could occur when people disobey police.”
