After rolling TRYC for 111, thanks mainly to four wickets from Norm Barlow, Culcairn surged to 4-135 at stumps with another day to play.
Vince Chaffey is unbeaten on 67 and will be looking to push towards a century quickly, giving Culcairn every chance to send TRYC in again.
Todd Hannam was the lone ranger for TRYC, scoring more than half the club’s runs with a defiant 61.
Meanwhile, in the other game played under searing conditions, Osborne will fancy its chances of reeling in Holbrook’s modest total of 131.
Andrew Madden and Harry Perryman both took four wickets.
Osborne is 1-33 in reply.
