The tornado that ripped through Rutherglen and surrounding areas left extensive damage to their historic home.
The roof of the heritage-listed home was ripped off, with heavy rain damaging the internal staircase.
But almost 12 months to the day the tornado hit, the Lings feel they are no closer to moving back into their home.
They were only prompted to speak out about delays as they will soon face the prospect of having nowhere to go.
Their insurance covers them for a 12-month lease of a nearby house while their home is repaired, but that will run out in a month.
The worry and frustration prompted the Lings to lodge a report on their experiences with Elders Insurance’s disputes resolution section, which is run by its parent company QBE Insurance.
The Lings are happy with what the builder has done so far but they say there is still much to do.
They just want their home back.
Someone needs to get this sorted — that’s a reasonable thing to request after a year.
