The Wanderers were no match for Avondale Heights in front of a good crowd at Willow Park in the statewide knockout yesterday.
The home team went down 2-0 early before Matt Hasler finished a rare opportunity to get one back.
But the Victorian Premier League 1 team responded quickly to go into half-time 3-1 before cruising home 5-1.
Twin City coach David Afonso was not using the four-day back-up for the round of 32 clash as an excuse.
“They were too quick for us across the park,” he said.
“We gave up some soft goals early and the two in the second half came about as we pushed forward looking to score.
“I’m a bit disappointed for the boys because they know they are a better team than that.
“Avondale Heights were sharp and knew how to move the ball around the park and we can learn from that.
“Our challenge is to take the lessons and apply them to our own game.”
