The nine-year-old Wangaratta boy last month donated his hard-earned pocket money to help rebuild Jason Bright’s car after a crash in Adelaide.
He was named an honorary team member and is spending the weekend hanging out with his heroes that includes a “hot lap ride” with Bright.
Brodie soaked up the experience yesterday, not even flinching at the roar of the V8 Supercars rushing past.
“I like all sounds,” he said.
Bright crouched down to show Brodie where the microphone went on his helmet and he was told all about the team’s operations.
However, he said he was a bit concerned when he was told he would be “helping” replace the tyres.
“I don’t know how,” he said.
Brodie said he was looking forward to “going in the car” and tomorrow’s race.
“I want it to rain so more cars can slip over,” he said.
“I like watching cars crash — except us.”
Brodie’s mother, Jaya, said Brodie had been beside himself with excitement.
“He was up dressed and showered by 6 o’clock today,” she said.
Bright said the team had made an exception for Brodie’s V8 ride yesterday — usually no one under 16 is allowed to ride.
“We can go around slow and he can get the feel of a V8,” Bright said.
“It will feel pretty cool for him, I reckon, something for him to talk about at school.”
