WODONGA Diamonds’ Bonnie Denison is a breath of fresh air when it comes to each Thursday’s AWFA press conference.
The defender doesn’t mince words, but probably rued her comments about Myrtleford’s Christina Mancuso last week.
Denison suggested they had the key to keeping the women’s star player award equal leader quiet — a little bit of extra attention, perhaps some niggle.
Savoy coach Richard Morgan said it fired the midfielder up.
“Christina had already played a full game in our thirds and yet that was probably her best performance of the year,” he said.
“When she wasn’t creating chances for herself she was creating chances for others.”
It was an inspired performance that led to Diamonds’ first defeat of the year, but we hope it doesn’t deter Denison from her straight shooting ways.
