THE ugly brawl that marred Saturday’s fiery reserves clash between Mitta United and Dederang-Mt Beauty is now the subject of an official investigation.
AFL Victoria will look into the melee at Dederang that saw Bombers’ player David Cooper kicked in the eye, allegedly by a Mitta United opponent.
Police are already looking into the incident, prompting a response from the Tallangatta and District league to look into the clash as well.
A 21-day investigation has been initiated, with AFL Victoria Country to appoint an independent investigator who will gather evidence for any potential tribunal charges.
In a statement, the league’s executive said it was committed to ensuring the league, its member clubs, players and supporters conducted themselves in a manner which fosters continued involvement in the game and promotes healthy club environments.
