Officers were authorised to search a home on Molkentin Road at Jindera about 6.30pm.

Police removed 29 cannabis plants from a shed at the rear of the property and seized hydroponic equipment.

No one was home at the time of the raid.

Chief inspector Kim Sorensen said the drugs had a street value of about $58,000.

“At this point in time police are still waiting to speak to the tenant of the premises,” he said.

“It’s expected that charges will be laid in relation to the find.

“We’re always happy to interrupt any plantation.

“We’re just happy to get drugs off the street.”

Insp Sorensen said staff from Energy Australia also attended the property.

“They assisted police in making safe the electricity supply to the property where the plantation was located,” Insp Sorensen said.

“It appears the energy meter was bypassed.”

An agronomist from the Department of Primary Industries yesterday analysed the plants for police.
