Police attended a Rapsey Court home about 5pm yesterday where they recovered a Holden Commodore stolen from the NSW capital in September last year.
The red car had been rebirthed.
It followed the seizure of a $50,000 Range Rover, stolen in Sydney in May last year and also rebirthed, from a Trudewind Road address yesterday morning.
A Jayco caravan, valued at $20,000, has also been seized, although police are yet to determine if it, too, had been stolen.
A 32-year-old man was arrested and interviewed, and later charged with handling stolen goods.
He was bailed to appear at Wodonga Magistrates Court at a later date.
Detective Sen-Constable Justin Foots said investigations were continuing but police did not think the rebirthing was happening in Wodonga.
“We believe he’s got connections in Sydney to a car rebirthing racket,” he said.
Earlier this month, a NSW Police operation targeting organised car theft and rebirthing led to several infringement notices for dodgy bookkeeping at businesses across the Riverina, including an Albury auto dismantler business fined $330 for an extensive compliance breach.
Sen-Constable Foots said they did not know if this matter was related to those NSW Police investigations.
“Our investigations are continuing ... at this point, it’s great to be recovering property of this value and giving it back to its rightful owners,” he said.
