GEMMA Noordewier was quick to take at least some credit for a resurgent Boomers’ change of form and fortune in the women’s competition at the weekend.
“Steve Hayes (coach) went to the World Cup and picked up on some of the tactics of the top teams in breaking down defences,” she said.
“There is a bit of Brazilian and Argentinian in the mix but mostly Dutch.
“So basically that’s my heritage coming to the fore again.”
Boomers, who had struggled to break down defensive mindsets in the first half of the year, have broken the shackles in recent weeks.
Their 2-5-3 set-up that also gives the players the freedom to roam and swap sides, has proved too much for former ladder leader Wodonga Diamonds and then Melrose last weekend.
