A 34-year-old woman and 61-year-old woman were left shaken after two people broke into their Saville Avenue home about 5am.
Inspector David Cottee said the residents were woken by the intruders, who fled on foot.
“One of the occupants was disturbed and witnessed a person running from the house,” he said.
“Property was stolen including two mobile phones, a purse, cash and papers.
“They weren’t injured, they weren’t threatened.
“But they were obviously shocked by the brashness of the intruders.”
The alleged offenders, both aged 18, were arrested about 8.15am at a house on Glenelg Drive before being charged and bailed to Albury Local Court.
Inspector Cottee said good investigative work had led to the arrests.
“I’d commend the police who attended and conducted the investigation,” he said.
“They did a sterling job in tracking them down and getting a search warrant.
“They were arrested without incident.”
In other weekend police news, officers are seeking public assistance after thieves broke into a North Albury transport business and stole a $60,000 truck.
The front gate of the Boronia Street property was cut some time between 9.20pm on Saturday and 8am on Sunday.
The offenders broke into an office, took the truck keys and stole the light rigid vehicle from a garage.
The refrigerated 2010 Isuzu FSR 700 was filled with unknown items at the time of the theft, which was not captured by security cameras.
“Police have spoken to the driver, the owner of the truck and the owner of the depot,” Inspector Cottee said.
“We’re seeking assistance to find the truck, which has the Victorian registration XPX840.”
