IT seems like the Panthers Group has missed a golden opportunity in its snap decision to close the sports club.
While carrying on with such a high level of debt was not sustainable, it would have been nice for members of the local community to be given the chance to visit the club for the last time.
There would be many people who were regulars at the club who may not have visited for years.
Like those people, the club may be past its prime but the chance to say goodbye and reminisce about better times might have been appreciated by those with fond memories of the place.
It was a part of the community for nearly 50 years, after all.
One last hurrah would never wipe out the club’s $8 million debt but it would have been a nice opportunity to say goodbye, thank staff and wish them all the very best.
