Jarrett, 42, made an application for release on bail in Albury Local Court yesterday.
He has been in custody since his sentencing by magistrate Tony Murray on July 22.
Jarrett appeared through a video link from Junee jail and his release bid was rejected by magistrate Megan Greenwood.
Police prosecutor Sgt Andrew Pike opposed Jarrett’s release on two grounds — the likelihood of him failing to appear in the District Court to prosecute his appeal and the possibility of him committing further offences.
Sgt Pike said warrants had previously been issued for Jarrett after he failed to attend court.
He has criminal convictions in Queensland, Western Australia, Victoria and NSW.
“He has very substantial antecedents in all those states for fraud matters,” Sgt Pike said.
“It is my understanding the District Court is sitting here starting next week.”
Sgt Pike said Jarrett’s appeal could be heard as early as next week.
Ms Greenwood was told Jarrett, a disability pensioner, has health issues and was willing to report three times weekly to police if released.
But his bid for bail was rejected with the case listed by Ms Greenwood for the District Court.
Jarrett received a 14-month jail term, with minimum of eight months, over deception charges involving iPhones and failing to comply with reporting conditions.
He has previously claimed to be Johnny Depp’s brother, US actor Skeet Ulrich and the grandson of legendary Hollywood film director Alfred Hitchcock.
Jarrett was put on the NSW Child Protection Register after being charged in Victoria with offences relating to a teenage girl.
He met a girl, 14, on a Sydney-bound train on January 20, 2012, said he owned a modelling agency and told her she had the looks for a model.
Jarrett and the girl exchanged text messages from January 25 to February.
He claimed to be Josh Kells from Vexus Modelling and police said the information exchanged amounted to grooming a child under 16 years old.
Jarrett was on a County Court bond imposed in Victoria when the latest fraud offences occurred.
