For the next 12 days, Regent Cinemas will screen 40 international films, ranging in genre from adventure to drama, comedy to horror and documentaries.
The diverse range includes some films that ordinarily would be unlikely to get a guernsey outside our capital cities.
The festival has grown in range and size over the past decade and is seen by many Border residents as one of the highlights of their winter calendar.
The film festival will be followed next month by the annual Write Around the Murray Festival, which begins on September 10 and will include 60 events over five days focused on comedy and crime.
Among the presenters included in this literary feast are journalist Chris Masters, crime writer Michael Robotham and comedians Wendy Harmer, Fiona O’Loughlin and Rusty Berther.
There will also be activities for kids and young writers.
There is no excuse for those who claim there’s nothing to see or do in Albury-Wodonga in the final weeks of winter and early spring — time to get out there.
