I RECENTLY complained about the discrepancy in registration costs between Victoria and NSW regarding my caravan registration and our local member told us it is because NSW was bigger and roads cost more to maintain. Interesting then that this year’s budget publicity for both states gave the following information:

“The Victorian Coalition government announced the largest ever investment in transport infrastructure in Victoria’s history in the 2014-15 budget. This $24 billion investment in new public transport and road assets is unprecedented as we work to relieve rail and road congestion to support growth and better connect Victorians.”
“The NSW Liberals and Nationals government will invest a record $5.5 billion to build and maintain critical road, maritime and freight infrastructure as part of the 2014-15 NSW budget.”
Well Mr Aplin, there seems to be an error in your reply because it would appear the NSW government spends a lot less than Victoria spends on roads and infrastructure.
Maybe all the money is being used by ICAC for the corruption enquiries in to current and former NSW politicians.
