MANY players go through a career without a premiership.
To go back-to-back is amazing, but to collect successive best-on-ground medals as well is a rarity.
Such is the case for Tungamah midfield Daniel Ellis, who was voted the AFL Victoria Country medallist in Tungamah’s win over Katamatite for the second year in a row.
Ellis, hard and rugged, not only played a stopping role on Katamatite prime mover Andrew Taylor, he was also a prolific possession-gatherer and goalkicker as well.
“The medals are good but the premiership medals are better,” Ellis, 26, said.
“Individual accolades on a day like today are pushed to the back.
“It’s the team things that count most.
“Everyone today had a job to do, I did mine and the rest carried out their instructions.
“Really, it’s all about the team things for me.”
