TEENAGE North Albury sensation Josh Minogue is this year’s SS&A Rising Star.
The talented young forward, who doesn’t turn 18 until next month, proved a revelation in his first season at senior level under Jason Akermanis.
“He put a lot of faith in me to play me in a few practice matches and it all went from there,” Minogue said.
“He’s been really good to play under.”
Minogue edged out Mitch Dalbosco (Myrtleford), James Svarc (Corowa-Rutherglen), Dylan Wilson (Wangaratta Rovers) and Louis Vescio (Wangaratta) for the award as the league’s best first-year player.
To be eligible, players must have played at least five games in the thirds last season.
The key forward starred on debut with three goals against Wangaratta Rovers in round one and went on to boot 31 majors for the season in his 16 games.
“I’m looking forward to having a big pre-season and a real crack at next year,” Minogue said.
“We’re a really young side I couldn’t have won without the delivery from the boys.”
