Mr Churches said he had raised several issues with the council but they had not been fixed, and he believes he has support from other ratepayers in the township of 700.
Mr Churches filled in a form at Walla’s rural transaction centre in February which was forwarded to the council.
“No one is overjoyed paying rates. But seeing we pay the second highest rates in the shire, we expect to see something for our money,” he said.
He said the main street was a disgrace with the kerb and gutter ripped up in parts from when trees were pulled out about four years ago.
The waterways and drains needed spraying and cleaning out and the sportsground toilets were in atrocious condition.
“Should anyone like to come over to Walla, I would be only too happy to show them around,” he said.
Mr Churches yesterday said the council responded immediately by letter to his complaint, but he has heard nothing since.
He believed the issues which he raised had not been rectified.
But the council’s director of engineering, Greg Blackie, said yesterday “a number of these issues were undertaken”.
Mr Blackie said there has been spraying of weeds, a clean up around the township and work has been done on the sportsground toilets.
He believed the council had attended to most of the complaints.
“There are some long-term issues about kerb and channel,” he said.
But it was not on the council program at present because it is necessary to look at the stormwater issue.
Mr Blackie said the council planned to complete a flood and drainage study for the township.
He said there was major flooding in Culcairn, Holbrook and Henty in 2010.
The NSW government has provided funding for a flooding study.
Applications for similar funding have been made for Jindera and Walla.
Mr Blackie said funding was provided for Jindera about three months ago and it was hoped money for Walla would come through soon.
