THE North Albury Sports Club will likely be saved if members deliver on $130,000 worth of pledges.
Administrator Chris Chamberlain put a do-or-die deal to creditors yesterday, who unanimously voted in its favour.
Mr Chamberlain described the return of about 17 cents in the dollar to unsecured creditors as unfortunate but still better than the alternative that may have left them with nothing.
A members’ meeting on Monday night will update the club’s supporters on the situation.
Mr Chamberlain credited members for the rescue, saying their pledges were a result of a love of their club and a desire to see it continue.
But, he added, now is the time for monetary promises to be delivered on.
Facing repayments of $3000 a month means that the club will have to hit the ground running in driving its revenue.
And while the support of its members has been a critical factor in avoiding the door closes on the facility yesterday, that support will be no less important as time goes on.
Without ongoing support, and the recruitment of new members, the effort that has gone into getting the club past this crisis point will be all for nought.
