Tony Abbott and Bill Shorten have co-operated professionally to make a united stand against the Islamic State’s barbaric and cowardly insurgents.
As expected, Christine Milne has voiced her opposition to bringing the Islamic State to heel.
By having sophisticated intelligence available, a squadron of attack planes, probably drones as well, special forces personnel, the support of the Iraqi government, the backing of the US and the coalition of the willing, hopefully they won’t be drawn into night skirmishes too often with snipers or ambushed by vest or car bombs.
In the past, Syrian mullahs have incited hatred and violence against the US, so it is little wonder they have spawned groups like the Islamic State.
Satellite reconnaissance should identify any terrorist groups attempting to slink back into Syria and they will invite an attack.
Allah-worshipping Muslims who are conversant with the Quran should be more vociferous in their condemnation of fellow Muslims who deride and mock their holy book, or proselytise it into some abomination.
Hopefully the UN will sanction this war with an unanimous vote.
