HENTY co-coach Brent Piltz says Ryan Hon still has to prove he is fit to play in tomorrow’s Hume league decider.
Hon trained last night in a last-ditch bid and was named on the bench for the grand final.
Piltz said the Swampies would wait until today before making a final call whether the dangerous forward would earn a recall from a knee complaint.
Hon missed a month after round 14 before attempting to play in the Swampies’ final home and away match — in round 19 against Brock-Burrum.
The clever goalsneak, who lasted less than a quarter, has since been diagnosed with a meniscus tear.
“He trained on Tuesday night and he will obviously go through a bit more of a test tonight,” Piltz said yesterday.
“He is probably 50-50 at this stage.
“It’s a tough one because obviously he hasn’t played a lot of footy so we have got a bit to weigh up in that regard.
“He trained Tuesday night and got through OK, but we have to be 100 per cent certain his body is up to it.
“We will make the final call at some stage tomorrow.”
Hon, 22, missed the second half of the 2011 season after having a shoulder reconstruction when playing for Moama.
He also missed from round 12 last year after dislocating his troublesome shoulder.
The classy finisher has booted 30 goals from 11 matches this season.
