Tim Cover, 24, was standing on a second floor balcony at the Phuket Graceland Resort and Spa in Patong when it collapsed on Tuesday night.
He suffered serious injuries after landing on concrete, hitting his head.
Photos taken by local media show Mr Cover being treated by paramedics for significant head wounds.
He had been standing on the balcony with his friends Tim Hanson and Richard Jones before the incident.
Mr Cover and Mr Jones were leaning on the balcony when it collapsed, with both taken to hospital.
Mr Hanson posted on Facebook on Wednesday that both men were in a stable condition.
Andrew Cover said he expected his brother to make a full recovery.
“He’s doing fine,” he said from Brisbane.
“I believe he’s going to make a full recovery.”
Friends and family took to Facebook to support Mr Cover.
“A speedy recovery to my (cousin) Tim,” Daniel Nicholls wrote.
“Hope you get well soon.”
His aunty, Roberta Nicholls, said someone must have been “looking after (him)”.
Mr Cover, who works for the army, left for Thailand on Sunday.
It’s not known when the former Launceston resident will be released from hospital.
Mr Jones and Mr Hanson both live in Melbourne.
The Phuket Graceland Resort and Spa is located about one kilometre north of Bangla Road in the popular tourist town.
The Australian Embassy in Bangkok is providing consular assistance to the two injured men.
