For the past three years, the pair has been the centre of attention, and it could be set to continue as Commanding Jewel lines up in Saturday's Toorak Handicap at Caulfield.

"The Cox Plate is there for her if she wins and wins convincingly," said co-trainer Troy Corstens. "If she doesn't win, then she doesn't deserve to be there and we can look at a race like the Myer Classic."

Atlantic Jewel started the group 1 glory trial winning the Thousand Guineas and was followed by her little sister a year later.

Last year, as Commanding Jewel was sidelined through injury, Atlantic Jewel was the star of the show as she won the Memsie Stakes and Caulfield Stakes and appeared set for certain glory in the Cox Plate.

Atlantic Jewel never got to Moonee Valley, retired because of injury when an odds-on favourite for the race. But perhaps a year on, Commanding Jewel can give the family a win it deserves.

"We have targeted this race and the Cox Plate has always been an option," Corstens said.

Commanding Jewel returned from injury this spring and proved she had lost nothing with a couple of thirds split by a win in the Let's Elope Stakes at Flemington.

Corstens is confident that she is ready to jump to  a group1 level, even from an awkward barrier draw.  However, a change of riding tactics will be key after she got going too hard last time in the Stocks Stakes at Moonee Valley.

"We want to ride her with cover and it might be a bit hard from the gate," Corstens said. "She has a habit of overracing when he goes forward and we want her relaxed.

"In the Let's Elope she did and got away with it but in the Stocks she was her own worst enemy and paid the price.

"If you remember in her Thousand Guineas she settled midfield and  produce a great sprint and we think that she will have that again given a sit."

Damien Oliver will make way for Corey Brown on Saturday, an engagement  made a while ago.

"We actually thought she would get around 53kg, so Damien couldn't ride her, that's when we booked Corey," Corstens said "She is weighed up to her best with the big weight [of 56.5kg] but she has been working great and is ready to run a big race."

Commanding Jewel is appalling weighted when you consider the 2kg mare allowance, it actually means she is top weight for the Toorak for winning a single group 1 against her own age and sex as a three-year-old filly.

She has blown in the market from $6.50 to $9 since betting opened at Ladbrokes, where Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes winner Trust In A Gust is now the $5.50 favourite. It is a very open race with Sydney raiders Bull Point and Arabian Gold are on the second line of betting at $6, while Solict is $7.50 to $6.50.
