After spending the past two years working for Tennis NSW as a community officer, Quast is looking forward to stepping on to the other side of the net.
“I guess the past two years I have been helping other coaches and clubs develop their programs and centres in the south west of NSW to become more sustainable and now it’s probably a chance to practice what I preach,” Quast said.
“I started a couple of weeks ago and it’s been good.”
Quast grew up in Wodonga and was coached by Phil Shanahan.
He spent time overseas as a hitting partner for Australia’s leading women players and competed with Mark Shanahan on the Futures and Satellites circuits.
Twelve and 20 teams are playing night tennis at Thurgoona on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Quast will launch a Tennis Australia cardio program next Thursday.
“It’s a fitness-based tennis program,” he said.
Coaching was available at the centre with courts open every day.
