The 41-year-old victim was left shocked and in disbelief when told the donor had come forward yesterday.
“It’s fabulous,” the woman said.
“I just can’t believe that.”
The Thurgoona resident, who has children aged three to 15, was woken by a loud bang early Monday morning as the fire tore through her Kia Carnival.
The fire appeared to have started when a rag was stuffed into the petrol inlet and set alight.
Albury resident Meredith, who asked that her last name not be used, offered to donate the car after reading the victim’s story in The Border Mail.
“I thought it was an awful thing to happen to someone,” Meredith said.
“We had a Kia Carnival sitting in the driveway and I thought ‘why not, she can have it’.
“I was touched by the fact she’s a single mum.
“It’s just one of those times when you think you can do something, so you go and do it.
“The woman is happy, which is good.
“I’m really pleased.”
Meredith upgraded her car almost two years ago and lent the Kia to people as they needed it, but said was often just parked in her driveway.
“She can have it,” she said.
“It’s all hers.”
Meredith was making arrangements to transfer the vehicle to the victim last night.
