LABOR’S Melbourne-based candidate for Ovens Valley, Gail Cholosznecki, can’t expect to be taken seriously by voters in next month’s Victorian election if they don’t know who she is and don’t get the opportunity to see or meet her.

That’s exactly what’s likely to happen because Ms Cholosznecki won’t be in the electorate for the whole final week of the campaign and is still to be seen in the North East after her candidacy was announced in September.
Now she says while work commitments will keep her away from Ovens Valley in the campaign’s last week, she is planning to make at least three visits to the electorate ahead of the poll.
But the exact timing of those visits hasn’t been confirmed.
Ms Cholosznecki defends her absence by saying she has sent out a lot of press releases and that she is responding to emails from constituents.
No doubt she is relying heavily on her campaign manager, Zuvele Leschen, a former Labor candidate for Indi to understand local issues and voters.
Voters understand the importance of work commitments but will question why someone who can’t get to the North East to meet them put their hand up as a candidate in the first place.
