The hybrid competition returns to the Albury Hockey Centre tonight with Hinton’s Hume Bank team facing the undefeated Party Oz side.
Hockey 8s spokesman Ross Maggs said a loss would see Hume Bank out of finals contention.
“Hinton will need to get the better of Party Oz fullback Josh MacVean who was almost impossible to pass last week,” he said.
“The other undefeated team, X-Ray Group, will be favourite to beat Newmarket Hotel, although Tony Donnolley and Scott Anderson were in fine form last week and will be doing their best to stop them.
EDC Electrical is looking forward to the return of senior players Sam McIntosh and Tim Jones when it plays Gardens Medical Group in the opening match of this week’s round.
“Gardens coach Craig Pontt has several of his squad unavailable, but young guns, Nathaniel Conlon and Zac Kraich are playing well.”
The women’s matches will start at 7pm.
Johnsons MME will be out for revenge after being beaten 2-0 by Newmarket Hotel last week.
Maggs said coach Rhianna Coleiro hadn’t given up on finals action and would want speedy flanker Laura Errey to get in behind the Newmarket Hotel defence, led by Essendon’s Georgia McCormack.
“Cosgraves Property Advisors beat Healthfocus Physiotherapy in round 1 with a goal by Brooke Martin right on the final siren,” he said.
“They need to get some points from this game to keep themselves in second spot.”
