Organisers said they had hoped to attract a bigger crowd but the feedback to the inaugural event at North Tuppal Station had been overwhelmingly positive.

More than 3500 students from within a 100-kilometre radius of the property visited the site on the opening day.

Six pavilions showcased dairy, cotton, meat, fibre and rice production from throughout the southern Riverina and Goulburn and Murray valleys.

There were displays of blade and machine shearing in the 114-year-old iconic Tuppal woolshed over three days.

Festival committee member Ross Bodey said the feedback was magnificent.

“We would have liked 15,000, but everybody had a great time, learnt a lot and saw a lot,” Mr Bodey said.

“The grains, cotton and rice people were amazed at the crowd and amazed at the questions from the crowd and the level of interaction with the crowd.”

The festival committee will meet on Tuesday to consider planning the next event in two years.

Mr Bodey said they hoped to make it a biennial event.

“The Deniliquin Innovation Expo is held in March every second year,” he said.

“The plan was to alternate with it.”

Mr Bodey said the farmers’ market and variety market would be set up closer to the woolshed next time.
