KIMBERLY-Clark Australia has announced that its Albury mill will close in the second half of 2015, with the loss of 44 jobs.

The company's managing director, Robbert Rietbroek said the high cost of manufacturing and the small scale of its operations meant the Albury mill had not been competitive for some time.
"The Albury mill is no longer viable to produce cost competitive nonwoven products for its remaining customers,” Mr Rietbroek said.
The Albury Mill commenced operations in 1987 and produced nonwoven fabrics for use in sterile medical applications (surgical wraps and gowns), industrial applications and as a component for the manufacture of nappies.
“We have announced the mill closure at this time to give our employees as much notice as possible," Albury mill manager Graham Rodda said.
"The exact date of closure is yet to be confirmed, but it is likely to be in the second half of next year.
“This decision was not taken lightly, and is no reflection on the great efforts of our employees at Albury who have done a fantastic job over the years creating efficiencies to try to keep the mill competitive for as long as possible,” Mr Rodda said.
