Ten-time world champion Australian middleweight kickboxer John Wayne Parr will attend Synergy Promotions’ third fight night at the SS and A Club, alongside BJC Muay Thai founder Bob Jones, creator of Zen Do Kai.
Seven title fights and 15 bouts are scheduled on an impressive card.
There will be three Australian, two East Coast and two Victorian titles up for grabs, with the main event being the Australian welterweight title surrendered by Synergy Training’s Drew Quirk.
“Drew was keen to defend his title but he had to get his injury sorted,” promoter Simon Ward said.
“So he surrendered it to Jacob Richards, from the John Wayne Parr Gym, and they’re coming all way from Queensland to defend it.”
This is the third annual fight night and Ward said he hoped to make it happen twice a year.
“We have local fighters and gyms coming from all over the country, which is good for the area,” he said.
“The card is really strong, and we’re trying to get more happening for the locals.
“There’s a lot of gyms on the Border.”
A mix of Muay Thai and mixed martial arts fighting will feature on the card.
Wangaratta’s Samantha Jenkins will compete in one of two female fights, with the other being for the under-18 Australian title.
“It’s a lot harder sport than a lot of other sports, it’s a lot more disciplined,” Ward said.
The fight night is set down for next Saturday, November 22, with doors opening at 5pm and the first bout scheduled for 6pm.
Tickets at $50 seated and $40 standing, with more information available at synergytrainingalbury.com.
