That was over the argument as to whether the current site was a better option than the $20 million alternative.
Opponents to the move took their fight against the new Northern Victoria Livestock Exchange all the way to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
But despite the opposition, the Wodonga Council perservered.
While some opposition will persevere, most of it has waned.
It is perhaps no coincidence that this change of heart has been aided by the building of the new, state-of-the-art undercover saleyards near the Logic hub.
Farmers who got to inspect the facility up close at the weekend were cautious, but could still see a lot of positives in what has been achieved.
These views tally with what operators Regional Infrastructure expected, given the new site is such a significant change.
The true test will be when NVLX opens for business early next year.
However, all the signs are pointing to the site being an all-round winner for the livestock industry, as well as a tremendous asset for the city.
