It has become one of the best tournaments in the region and a maximum 28 teams have entered.
But there are a significant number of new teams because of a clash with the annual chaff-cutters tournament being held at Ganmain.
Usually that tournament is held in early November and attracts a large number of entries from the Albury and District Bowling Association.
The Ganmain tournament was put back because the Albury district started its pennant several weeks ago.
The organiser of the Holbrook tournament, Peter Wornes, has worked hard to get a full field of entries.
There will be six games of 18 ends with $3500 prizemoney at stake and $1500 for the winners.
The prizemoney goes down to fifth place and there are day prizes for both Saturday and Sunday.
Teams from throughout the Riverina are taking part along with others from Canberra and the north coast of NSW.
The defending titleholders are the composite team of Nick Gannon (Tumut), David Quigley (Young) and David Ferguson (Wagga RAFC).
Wornes said the greens were running superbly before 36 millimetres of rain on Monday.
But by tomorrow, they should be running at an ideal speed of about 15 seconds.
The tournament is held in recognition of long-time Holbrook administrator and former president Trevor Craig.
He died several years ago after making an invaluable contribution to bowls at both club and district level.
- THE annual Riding for the Disabled women’s bowls tournament will be held at the Commercial Club greens on Saturday. December 6.
Last year a total of $12,000 was raised for the organisation.
That took the total raised to $79,000 since the tournament began in 2002.
The money raised has increased steadily and provides assistance for an important Albury organisation run by volunteers without any government funding.
A maximum 28 teams have entered from a wide area with the club providing valuable sponsorship.
A men’s prostate day tournament will be held next Wednesday at 3pm.
Anyone interested in taking part can contact the men’s bowling club.
