The key to their success was they took the time to think of others to ensure less fortunate kids receive a present.
The Yackandandah Primary School pupils donned their brightest red hats and glowing reindeer noses to raise money for UnitingCare’s Christmas gift appeal.
The junior school council’s project raised $170 to brighten some Christmas mornings.
Parent Bronwyn Nolan was touched by the students’ kindness.
“It’s really important kids have those values, particularly at this time of year,” she said.
“They appreciate how lucky they are.
“They learn a bit of compassion and about the spirit of generosity at Christmas.”
The pupils also packed six hampers for the Salvation Army — with Yackandandah FoodWorks providing goods.
The Yackandandah newsagency sold the school gifts to donate at cost price.
