As usual there will be a strong contingent from Gippsland and North East Victoria.
The annual function has been held for more than 40 years at various venues around the high country and generally attracts up to 4000 people who camp on site for the weekend or stay at nearby accommodation.
President of the Mountain Cattlemen’s Association of Victoria Charlie Lovick said Mitta was chosen for this year’s gathering because of its long history and connection to Alpine grazing on Mt Bogong and the high plains.
Visitors will enjoy three nights of bands and two days of entertaining events over the weekend of January 10 and 11 including the famous and demanding Cattlemen’s Cup.
Local groups will greatly benefit from the event as they have been hired by the association’s to assist running the get together.
